Website of the Week The number of pro se bankruptcy cases has increased dramatically. For a variety of substantive and procedural reasons, pro se filers often find their cases dismissed shortly after being filed. To help address this problem, BBA Section and Committee co-chairs worked closely with U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judges Joan N. Feeney and Henry J. Boroff to create a new web site to assist pro se filers before they file for bankruptcy. In addition to outlining problems faced by many pro se filers, the site also provides document checklists, and links to several consumer resources, including for the first time, a direct link to the BBA’s Lawyer Referral Service. For their work on the new page, kudos to Mark C. Rossi and Adrienne Walker, co-chairs of the Pro Bono Committee of the BBA Bankruptcy Section, and to Bankruptcy Section co-chairs Doug Rosner and Don Lassman, Consumer Section Co-Chairs William McLeod and Susan Grossberg, the Standing Chapter 13 Trustee Carolyn Bankowski, and Bankruptcy Court Clerk James Lynch. |
