Kudos to GBLS Attorneys Ellen Shachter, Senior Attorney in Greater Boston Legal Services'* Cambridge and Somerville Office, was awarded the National Student Partnership (NSP) Community Partner of the Year award in February. Ellen was chosen among numerous community partners nominated by approximately fifteen NSP offices around the country. Ellen is on the local advisory Board for the Somerville office of NSP and has provided its students with on-going training and technical support. Ellen Wallace, GBLS Employment Unit Senior Attorney, received the Massachusetts AFL-CIO Merit Award in May 2008 "for her hard work and commitment to the Massachusetts labor movement." GBLS attorneys Manisha Bhatt (Family Law Unit), a member of the Board of Editors of the Boston Bar Journal, Naomi Meyer (Welfare Unit) and Elizabeth Toulan, (Welfare Unit Family Economic Initiative) have all been promoted to Senior Attorneys.
