K&L Gates Expands Footprint in Carolinas Partners at the global law firm of K&L Gates* and the regional law firm of Kennedy Covington have announced their affirmative vote to combine the firms. The merger is effective July 1 and will give K&L Gates the largest Carolina presence of any global law firm. Kennedy Covington is a 50-year-old firm with 175 attorneys who work in offices in Charlotte, Raleigh and Research Triangle Park in South Carolina.
