Join us for the first meeting of the Intellectual Property Law Section's newest committee! Jim Leonard and Alan Brill of Kroll will discuss the state of identity fraud, how organizations can minimize the risk of incidents, and the key steps that must be taken when an incident occurs. Topics to be considered include:

  • options for breach reporting/credit monitoring/identity restoration;
  • the fact that people involved in the incident may be identity theft victims, but not through your incident,
  • problems related to the many different laws which provide for different reporting triggers, requirements, and specific wording.

Jim Leonard has more than 8 years of experience assisting companies in identifying risk, creating security policies and procedures, vetting and implementing network security products and training corporate security practitioners. Jim's primary with Kroll's Fraud Solutions Practice is aiding clients in understanding their potential exposures to security events and as importantly, assisting in creating response plans to reduce risks and mitigate the exposures of an event.

Alan Brill is the founder of Kroll Ontrack's global high-tech invesitgations practice and is senior managing director at Kroll Ontrack. His work has ranged from large-scale reviews of information security and cyber-incidents for multi-billion dollar corporations to criminal investigations of computer intrusions.
