Sponsored by the Privacy Law Committee**

Steven A. Lauer
, Corporate Counsel at Global Compliance Services, and Mark Schreiber of Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP will discuss how data protection and privacy laws especially in the EU pose a challenge in establishing an internal reporting mechanism for a global company. U.S. public companies must comply with Sarbanes-Oxley provisions that require procedures for confidential and anonymous reports of accounting or auditing irregularities. Accordingly, any company setting up a Sarbanes reporting line needs to consider some fundamental questions including:

  • How should a company attempt to satisfy the SOX requirements within the constraints of EU and EU Member State guidelines and rulings?
  • What attributes of such a hotline might reduce the complexity or more assuredly comply with those standards?
Join us as Mr. Lauer and Mr. Schreiber discuss those issues and how to manage this reporting process.

The Privacy Law Committee is Co-chaired by Peter Lefkowitz and Mark Schreiber.
