Join us for our annual Bankruptcy Pro Bono Training program. Attendees will learn how to file a Chapter 7 case for low-income clients and how to avoid common pitfalls.

Discussion topics will include:

  • Pre-filing considerations
  • How to prepare and file the case
  • Debtor obligations
  • Maximizing Exemptions (including declarations of homestead)
  • Asset Abandonment
  • The role of the Chapter 7 Trustee
  • Issues that can hold up the administration of a Chapter 7 case
  • Chapter 13 as an alternative to Chapter 7

Following this discussion there will be a question and answer period.

Panelists:

There is no fee for this program, but we ask that attendees put their new skills to work by taking on a pro bono case through the Volunteer Lawyers Project.

Breakfast and lunch will be served.
