"If you could add or delete one word to the dictionary, what would it be, and why?"

Darren L. Braham – Ropes & Gray LLP
"It's actually a phrase, I'd delete. 'Green-thumbed.'  In England (where I am originally from), the phrase is 'Green-fingered', and I've always wondered how the change of digit came about!"

Elizabeth N. Mulvey – Crowe & Mulvey LLP
"I would add 'precise,' v., meaning 'to sharpen or make precise.' There is a French verb, préciser, with this meaning, and I've always thought we needed one.  If you're speaking about precision, you ought to be able to accomplish it with one word."

Wm. Shaw McDermott – K&L Gates
"I would delete 'condign.'  I always think it means one thing, when it clearly means another, and I always have to resort to the dictionary to relieve the confusion."
