Green Office Tip of the Week

Check your firm’s procurement practices – there’s probably room for green improvements YOU can suggest. Get the firm’s powers that be to agree to make it your firm’s official procurement policy to:

1. Buy the highest recycled content paper, envelopes, pads, post-its, etc.
2. Purchase only Energy Star office equipment and appliances (certified by EPA and the US Dept of Energy as using less energy and being better for the environment).
3. Check the "Green" Electronics website (EPEAT for Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) when purchasing computers and other electronics, and buy equipment that is more energy efficient or better on recycling.
4. Check EPA’s "Green Team" site for other tips on how offices can reduce their environmental and energy impacts.

The Green Office Program promotes 10 simple steps to reduce the waste of paper and energy in law office operations and to increase recycling and other environmentally more sustainable law office practices.
