The Buck Stops Here: Perspectives on the Financial Crisis
With the turmoil in the financial markets, the regulatory and business environment in which financial services companies operate has been altered like never before. Changes in the law, the industry players and the role of government in the market have been proceeding at a rapid pace. The challenge to practitioners and industry participants is to keep abreast of these developments as they affect their day-to-day jobs while keeping a perspective on wider implications that may affect the entire economy. Moreover, since the financial turmoil has implications on the local economy, a discussion of opportunities and threats to the city and the region is both timely and crucial. Speakers: Stefan L. Jouret, Deutsch Williams Brooks DeRensis & Holland, P.C.; Tamar Frankel, Boston University School of Law, will focus on Ponzi schemes; and Alan MacDonald, Massachusetts Business Roundtable, will speak about the overall business climate in Massachusetts. A question and answer period will follow. Co-sponsored by Morin Center for Banking and Financial Law, BU School of Law.
