Larry DiCara’s Birthday Yields $200K for Youth Program
Larry DiCara celebrated his 60th birthday by raising awareness (and funds) for Boys State, a summer leadership and citizenship program sponsored by The American Legion for high school students between their junior and senior years. Larry, a partner at Nixon Peabody, graduated from the program in 1966, and has been involved with it throughout his career, teaching government to more than 20,000 young people and acting as a mentor to hundreds of individuals he has met through the program. Larry’s goal for throwing this non-traditional birthday party was to strengthen the program and provide for the co-location of Boys State and Girls State in 2011. At least $200,000 was raised at the fundraiser/birthday, which included remarks by Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and Governor Deval Patrick. |
