Robinson & Cole – Michael Giaimo Edits Religious Land Use Book
Michael S. Giaimo, a land use attorney and managing partner of Robinson & Cole’s Boston office, has co-edited and authored a chapter in the book RLUIPA Reader: Religious Land Uses, Zoning and the Courts, co-published by the American Bar Association and the American Planning Association. The book provides a practical overview of the federal Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA), which was enacted in 2000 and has been controversial in planning and legal circles. The intent of the book is to help familiarize planners, lawyers, and government officials with RLUIPA and to provide practical advice from a range of perspectives. Mike authored the chapter providing an overview of case law to date under the statute. His practice involves land use, environmental, and real estate law, with a focus on permitting, regulatory compliance, transactions, and related litigation and administrative proceedings. |
