Congratulations Kurt James

Effective September 1, 2008, Kurt A. James, a director at Rackemann, Sawyer & Brewster*, has become President of the Board of Directors for The Lawyers Clearinghouse on Affordable Housing and Homelessness, which provides pro bono legal services to nonprofit organizations, groups seeking nonprofit status, and guests of homeless shelters in Greater Boston. Kurt has been on the Board since 2001 and has been very active as Vice President, chairing the Nominating Committee and Legal Referral and Education Committee. Kurt is Chairman of Rackemann’s Affordable Housing and Community Development Practice Group and concentrates his practice in the area of real estate development and finance with a focus on affordable housing and community development. The Lawyers Clearinghouse on Affordable Housing and Homelessness was founded in 1988 by the Boston Bar Association and Massachusetts Bar Association, and grew out of a common belief that through a dedicated, broad-based program, the pro bono resources of the private bar could be used to fight homelessness.
