I'm still waiting for the middle-of-the-night call from a jailed client – which, as a corporate lawyer, I will be largely unequipped to handle – but I wouldn't let that stop me from rushing down to the jailhouse to speak with him.  I'd meet the client at the police department and, cocking my head at a 90-degree angle like Detective Goren, say something like, 'The way you tap your fingers on the table shows me that the aggression you have toward your mother forced you to commit this murder.' And my client would say something totally unexpected and dramatic like, 'But... I was arrested for jaywalking.' Okay... maybe I'll stick to being a corporate lawyer."
