Governor Signs UCC Amendments

On July 1st, Governor Patrick signed into law “An Act making amendments to the uniform commercial code covering general provisions, documents of title and secured transactions.” These updates include the 2010 Amendments to UCC Article 9, Revised Articles 1 and 7, and a number of other amendments to UCC sections.

The UCC was first enacted in Massachusetts in 1958, and it has been more than 10 years since any material changes have been made to the UCC. The BBA appreciates the contributions and leadership of Uniform Law Commissioner Ed Smith (Bingham McCutchen) who is responsible for drafting these important revisions and for getting them enacted in Massachusetts before the July 1st deadline.
