Congratulations to
Damon Hart, former co-chair of the New Lawyers Section, on being elected to the partnership at Holland & Knight.


2. Invitation to “New” lawyers Who Are Also Solo and Small Firm Practitioners

The Solo and Small Firm Section provides information and resources to lawyers who practice either by themselves or in firms with fewer than ten practicioners. In its efforts to help solo and small firm lawyers maximize opportunities for success, the Section concentrates on three areas: management, marketing, and technology.

The Section steering committee meets on the second Monday of the month from 12:00-1:30 at the BBA.  The Section usually has its monthly brown bag programs on the first Thursday of the month at 12:00 p.m.  

Membership in the Section is free of charge. If you are interested in joining other practitioners of varying experience to share the ins and outs of solo or small office practice email the BBA at sections@bostonbar.org.

The next Solo & Small Firm Steering Committee meeting is Monday, February 12 at 12:00 p.m.  No RSVP required!

The New Lawyers Section of the Boston Bar Association is seeking volunteers for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program. Volunteers prepare state and federal income tax returns for low-income taxpayers at the Boston Public Library on Thursday evenings and Saturdays from March 8 through April 7.

Each volunteer is asked to contribute approximately 12 hours of his or her time over the tax season.  All volunteers must complete IRS on-line training and certification.

Stephen D. Silveri of the Law Office Of Stephen D. Silveri, will provide a paragraph-by-paragraph explanation of the standard form Purchase and Sale Agreement as well as critical modifications that must be made in order to protect both buyer and seller clients. This program is targeted toward the new associate, or anyone who is unfamiliar with residential real estate transactions and who is interested in gaining a better understanding.


The Steering Committee for the New Lawyers Section meets the first Wednesday of every month at 8:30 a.m. The next meeting is December 6. All are welcome.
