part of the Tax Section, the Federal
Tax & Business Transactions Committee addresses a range of
federal taxation issues, including issues relating to corporate mergers
and acquisitions, corporate spin-offs and split-ups, business formations,
the structuring of debt and equity investments, tax favored investment vehicles
(such as RICs, REMICs, FASITs, and REITs), and other business transactions.
The committee's monthly meetings often feature guest speakers. The committee's
activities are most valuable to tax practitioners with at least five years
of experience.
