Introducing BBA Forums

The BBA has always been the leading destination for lawyers wishing to stay on top of their practice areas with over 400 educational and networking programs provided by the BBA’s Sections each year.

But what about education beyond your practice area?  The BBA’s Forums offer a new way to focus on the way you practice, not just the type of law you need to know.

Looking to advance at your firm? Hone your client development and managerial know-how with programs from our Recently Elected Partners (REP) Forum. Get to know those who are setting the pace as leaders in Boston’s government and in-house communities with the Government Lawyers and In-House Forums. The BBA’s new forums will offer members in these settings to connect via unique social and learning opportunities – all designed with your practice in mind.

Government Lawyer Forum

The Government Lawyer Forum serves to promote professional excellence, career development, and camaraderie among government lawyers and their cohorts in private practice. The Forum will provide non-partisan and balanced educational programming focusing on topics of mutual interest amongst current, former, and prospective government attorneys. The Forum will also seek to promote public service opportunities, socialization, and networking between members of the Forum and the BBA’s non-government practitioner members.

All current, former, and prospective Federal, State, and municipal government attorneys in the Boston area are encouraged to connect with the Government Lawyer Forum to stay current with their professional development needs.

In-House Forum

The Boston Bar Association’s In-House Forum serves as a professional development hub for BBA Member attorneys who work in the corporate sphere. We welcome to the Forum in-house attorneys working in all industries, in all in-house roles.

Whether you serve as corporate counsel, compliance counsel, contract administrator, or in another specialized position, our In-House Forum is focused on helping you grow your skills and your network.

The In-House Forum will provide career development and educational programs designed to meet the specialized needs and interests of Boston’s in-house counsel.  By leveraging the expertise of the BBA’s 12,000+ members, in-house practitioners can expect even more opportunities at the BBA for targeted professional education and networking.

REP Forum

The Recently Elected Partners Forum is comprised of attorneys who have transitioned from associate to partner within the past six years.  This Forum serves these recently elected partners, attorneys transitioning from associate to partner, and mid-level to senior associates who want to find out more about what it takes.

The REP Forum’s Advisory Committee works to provide programs that address issues that all "new" partners face at one time or another – topics ranging from marketing and business development, to taking on leadership responsibilities within a firm, to learning how to manage and delegate more effectively.  The REP Forum also provides meaningful opportunities to network with other recently-elected partners in the Boston area from different practice areas, who work in firms of all types and sizes.
