On March 6, the Energy and Telecommunications Law Committee held a brown bag program titled "Fracking and Shale Gas, Part I: Impacts on Energy Markets and Massachusetts." Susan Tierney, Managing Principal at Analysis Group, shared her views on shale gas and fracking, specifically addressing shale gas development in Pennsylvania and New York, impacts on energy markets generally, and on electricity prices in Massachusetts.

The second part of this program series on fracking, "Fracking and Shale Gas, Part II: The Science and Policy Debate," will be held on March 20 at 12:30 pm. Peter Robertson, Senior Vice President, Legislative & Regulatory Affairs for America’s Natural Gas Alliance (ANGA); and John Rogers, Senior Analyst in the Climate and Energy Program at the Union of Concerned Scientists; will address questions such as: What do we know about its environmental impacts? How do they compare with impacts from other energy sources? What is the current regulation of the industry? What should our public policies on fracking be?
