Welcome to the Intellectual Property Section of the Boston Bar Association!

The IP Section, with its eight different committees, covers all areas of intellectual property law from the transactional side to litigation.  With almost 900 IP lawyer members in private practice, government, and in house, whether your area of practice or interest is patents, copyrights, trademarks, or trade secrets, there is always something to learn and people to meet.  Come get involved.

An Exciting Year

We are looking forward to a very exciting year!  Not only has intellectual property law has been growing in importance every year, but the law is changing in many significant and interesting ways, including with the passage of the America Invents Act and efforts to pass the Protecting American Trade Secrets and Innovation Act of 2012.  There will be much to learn.

Each committee will have regular brown bag lunches discussing important IP issues.  The lunches are a great way to dip your toe in the water.

In addition, the IP Section will host CLE programming, panel discussions, and symposia of interest to lawyers in all practice areas that touch on IP issues, from general practitioners to even the most seasoned IP lawyers.  The programming will provide less IP-focused lawyers an opportunity to get up to speed on many of the topics that you need to know and the well-heeled IP lawyers a range of new and interesting information, including our ever-popular, perennial Intellectual Property Year in Review.

Stay on top of these events through the IP Section’s Upcoming Programs page on the BBA website.
