Judicial Internship Program Now Accepting Applications for Spring 2013

Friday, November 16, 2012

The Boston Bar Association’s Diversity & Inclusion Section is now accepting applications for semester-long internships in the Massachusetts State District Court as well as the United States Bankruptcy Court for spring 2013. This unpaid, non-credit* internship provides students the opportunity to work directly with a judge, observe courtroom proceedings and enhance their legal research and writing skills. The BBA’s Diversity & Inclusion Section’s Pipeline and Recruitment Committee works to connect the judges with potential interns.

Students who have completed their first year of law school and are able to work at least 15 hours per week will be considered. Diverse students are strongly encouraged to apply. A flexible schedule is available to accommodate other commitments. Spring interns will begin in February 2013.

Interested students should complete the application and submit it along with a cover letter, resume, and a letter of recommendation from a law school professor. Enrollment is limited so early applications are strongly encouraged. Applications will be collected on a rolling basis with priority placement given to early applicants. The application deadline is December 14, 2012. Interested students should send completed applications to Susan Helm at shelm@bostonbar.org.

*Students may be able to obtain credit from their law school for participation in the program on a case by case basis.
