Bringing — or Defending — Chapter 30A Appeals of Administrative Agency Decisions

Chapter 30A appeals of state administrative agency decisions are governed by their own set of procedures, rules, and standards of review, which can trip up the unfamiliar lawyer. Carrie Benedon, an Assistant Attorney General in the AGO’s Government Bureau, and Tad Heuer, an attorney at Foley Hoag whose practice focuses on administrative law, will present an overview of the process for seeking judicial review of state administrative agency decisions. The program will include a discussion of applicable procedures, timelines, and deadlines; the role of the administrative record; the responsibilities of each party to the appeal; and the standard and scope of judicial review.
