Welcome to the Financial Services Section!

The Boston Bar Association has a long history of commitment to professional education and development, improvement of the law and legal system, and promoting business development in and around the City of Boston.  The Financial Services Section shares and promotes these goals.

The Financial Services Section includes over 400 attorneys sharing a common interest in Greater Boston’s regulated financial services industry. It includes present and former state and federal regulators, prosecutors, lawyers in private practice with specialties in litigation, corporate, tax and other areas, in house counsel with many areas of expertise, as well as compliance and risk managers. The Section provides a forum for analysis of new federal and state legislative, regulatory and judicial developments, the improvement of individual practice skills, and engagement on issues that cut across all segments of the financial services industry.  The Financial Services Section is made up of five committees, each corresponding to a different segment of the financial services industry -- banking, insurance, broker-dealers, investment companies and advisors, and consumer finance.  The programming of the Section’s committees makes up the core of the Section's activities, and includes substantive law discussions on topical and timeless issues in brown bag lunch meetings, CLE programming, legislative and regulatory law improvement initiatives, panel discussions and symposia, as well as social and networking events.

Please join us at the Financial Services Section Fall Welcome Wine & Cheese Reception on September 13th at 5:30 pm. This will be a great opportunity to meet the Co-Chairs and other members of the Banking, Investment Companies & Advisors, Insurance, Consumer Finance, Broker-Dealer, Public Policy, Public Service and Communications Committees and find about their plans for the coming year and how you personally can get involved.

On the Financial Services Section webpage on the BBA's website, you can learn more about the Financial Services Sections programs, events and activities.

We particularly wish to invite law students and new lawyers to attend our programs and events.  If you would like to participate or learn more about Financial Services Section activities, please contact us.

Once again,we welcome you all, hope you will become involved with the BBA and its Financial Services Section.

Sincerely,

Karen O’Toole and Kevin Handly
