Our kickoff program, Wisdom of the Sages: Senior Lawyers Look Back and Ahead, will take place Wednesday, September 7 at 12:00 PM, and it should be of great interest to all. Four senior members of the bar -- Ed Barshak, Shirley Bayle, Jim DeGiacomo, and Paul Sugarman – will reminisce about their long careers and will talk about what motivates them to continue practicing law. This will be an interactive session, with ample time set aside for attendees, both those who still practice and those who do not, to weigh in with their perspectives. What are the most dramatic changes over the last 50 (or more) years? What are the challenges facing us today? What compromises do we make at this stage? Would we do it again, and would we do things differently? These are some of the questions that our group will discuss.
Beginning on Tuesday October 4, and on the first Tuesday of each month up to June 2012, we will hold lunch meetings of the Senior Lawyers Section, and we are developing programs that we think will be of great interest to members of the section. Our October meeting will feature Judge Hiller Zobel, who will speak about the Ethics of John Adams. Later this year, Helen Kass and Emily Saltz will present Caring for Seniors -- Where We Can Turn for Clients, Parents and Ourselves.
We have also added members to our section Steering Committee and invite anyone who is interested to become part of that group, which will hold its first meeting at 11:30 on October 4, immediately before the John Adams program. This group will help formulate programs for 2012.
Please mark your calendars and plan to be part of the BBA Senior Lawyers Section for 2011-12.
