Boston Bar and LOMAP Launch Series for Lawyers Starting Their Own Firms

As more lawyers consider venturing into solo or small firm practice, the Boston Bar Association (BBA) today announced that it has joined forces with the Law Office Management Assistance Program (LOMAP) to offer Foundations for a New Practice, a six part continuing legal education (CLE) series that will start on October 4, and be held at 16 Beacon Street, Boston. The target audience for the series will be recent law school graduates and lawyers practicing in other settings -- such as larger law firms, in-house at corporations, and government or legal services -- who think they might like to open their own law offices.

Participants will acquire the entrepreneurial skills necessary for succeeding in solo or small firm practice and learn the basic building blocks for developing a law office.  By learning alongside their peers, they will also begin to build their professional network. The series will culminate with participants drafting a business plan to be reviewed by select faculty.

Faculty, including practicing attorneys and advisors, will provide real world examples of how to build a successful law practice. The series will also be offered online for those unable to attend in person.
