Program Recap: The Preparation of Forms 706 & 709 and Practical Tips for Estate and Gift Tax Filings

On Wednesday, March 7 the Practice Fundamentals Committee of the Trusts & Estates Section hosted its most recent free brown bag lunch program offering practical tips to Trusts & Estates attorneys, titled "The Preparation of Forms 706 & 709 and Practical Tips for Estate and Gift Tax Filings." Speaker Sara W. Condon of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo P.C. provided an overview of the federal estate tax return (Form 706) and the federal gift tax return (Form 709), used to report and pay tax on bequests and lifetime gifts and are an integral part of estate planning and administration. The presentation covered the general purposes and structure of the forms, as well as provide tips for preparing them.
