Promoting Sustainability Through Public Service

Thursday, June 14, 2012 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

Description:

Sustainability means meeting our needs without diminishing the ability of future generations to meet their needs, through wise stewardship of natural resources. As lawyers, we engage in sustainable practices when we recycle paper, pursue a “green lease” for our firm, or install a bike room.  Many attorneys have the skills and motivation to further promote sustainability, by representing an environmental justice group concerned about the siting of an industrial facility, assisting a local organization with transforming a vacant lot into a community garden or serving on the board of a nonprofit at the forefront of climate change action.  This program is designed to provide an introduction to the range of opportunities for attorneys to offer their legal talent to make the world a more sustainable place.
