Child Support Guidelines Task Force Hearing for Members of the Bar

Thursday, September 27, 2012 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

The Child Support Guidelines are used by judges of the Probate and Family Court to establish temporary and permanent orders for child support in divorce actions, modification actions and paternity actions.  The Child Support Guidelines form the basis for the Court to determine appropriate child support orders and to determine whether parties’ agreements for child support are fair.  According to federal regulations, each state must review its Child Support Guidelines at least every four years to ensure their application results in the determination of appropriate child support orders.  The Child Support Guidelines promulgated by Chief Justice for Administration and Management, Judge Mulligan, on January 1, 2009 are now being reviewed by a Child Support Guidelines Task Force.  This program offers the opportunity to members of the bar to participate in a hearing with the Child Support Guidelines Task Force Members to provide their comments and feedback regarding the application, methodology, assumptions and issues that they have encountered with the application of the current guidelines.
