The Work of the Trial Court's Access to Justice Initiative

Thursday, April 25, 2013 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

This brown bag lunch program will update members on the latest work of the Trial Court's Access to Justice Initiative. Since June 2009, the Honorable Dina E. Fein, Special Advisor to the Trial Court for Access to Justice Initiatives, has been leading the Trial Court's efforts to guide and coordinate resources within the Trial Court to broaden access to civil justice for all litigants, including self-represented litigants, individuals of modest means, those of limited or no English proficiency, and individuals with mental or physical disabilities. We will hear about the Trial Court's efforts including their most recent work, involving language access strategies and translating court forms, improving technology access for court users, expanding the uses of limited assistance representation (LAR), and establishing court service centers in multijurisdictional courthouses, as well as a summary of the Trial Court’s progress in implementing its mission objectives, and the future direction of the Trial Court's Access to Justice Initiatives.
