Thursday, March 20, 2014 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

Description:

Note: This program was originally scheduled for February 6 but has a new date of March 20

Data breaches in the US may contain foreign resident data, such as in large credit card breaches. Understanding what to do next is important. Here is what will be addressed: Examples where breaches contain foreign resident data; breach notification obligations in other countries beyond the US, in Europe and other countries; how to decide when and whom to notify in foreign breaches; what laws or rules apply to these notifications; what are the content requirements or forms of notification in other countries; what data protection or other authorities require notices?

An introduction to the World Law Group Global Guide to Data Breach Notifications, covering 43 countries, will be included and made available. Mr. Schreiber, one of the speakers, is also Chair for Privacy Matters of the World Law Group, which developed this manual with some 40 law firms.
