Massachusetts Zoning Reform: A Critical Analysis of the Zoning Reform Bill H#1859

Thursday, October 10, 2013 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

Description:

House Bill #1859: An Act Promoting the Planning and Development of Sustainable Communities is a zoning reform initiative that is currently pending before the Joint Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government.  Many who advocate for this legislation, including the Smart Growth Alliance, argue that it is essential for stable and productive zoning in Massachusetts.  Others, including the Home Builders Association of Massachusetts, claim that it will make the permitting and zoning process more difficult, potentially stifling development and increasing costs.  This program will provide a critical overview from both perspectives.
