Monday, July 15, 2013 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

Description:

On June 26th, the Supreme Court declared Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), unconstitutional. Under Section 3 of the law, marriage was explicitly confined to unions between men and women.

Join the BBA’s Diversity & Inclusion and Civil Rights & Civil Liberties Sections for a panel discussion about the practical, real life implications facing same-sex couples following the United States v. Windsor decision. The program will offer tips and recommendations for navigating the changing legal landscape as federal marriage benefits and protections are now legally granted to all married couples in in states that recognize same-sex marriage.  Learn practical implications for in-state and out-of-state same-sex marriages that you can use to advise your clients.
