With the holiday shopping season upon us, advertisers' efforts to reach and
attract consumers are as competitive as ever. Promises of "lowest prices,"
"guaranteed satisfaction," and "superior performance" inundate consumers --
whether in print, on television, or in the growing realm of digital
But consumers aren’t the only ones taking notice. In fact, it is likely
that those paying the closest attention to advertising claims aren’t consumers
at all, but rather those with an interest in keeping advertisers honest:
government regulators, competitors, and plaintiffs’ attorneys. Public and
private enforcement of false advertising laws show no signs of slowing down, and
the legal and public relations implications of an investigation or lawsuit can
have a significant impact on a business or even an industry.
On December 18th at 16 Beacon Street, join us for an insider's view of false
advertising disputes. With presenters from the Federal Trade Commission, the
National Advertising Division of the Better Business Bureau, and in-house legal
departments, this CLE program will orient participants to the current
enforcement landscape of false advertising laws and highlight both public and
private enforcement trends.
The program takes place on the morning of December 18th from 9:00 AM to 11:30
AM, so you’ll be back to the office by lunch -- ready to impart the
new strategies and tips you learned at the BBA. If you cannot attend in
person, you can still purchase the course book and recording via our CLE Bookstore.
