CLE - Managing Mismanagement: Fraud, Misconduct, and Conflicts of Interest in the Research Realm

Thursday, April 17, 2014 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

Allegations concerning fraud, misconduct, and conflicts of interest in connection with clinical research frequently surface in the news.  Such events can not only result in sanctions and lasting harm for the reputations of institutions and individual researchers; dealing with these issues also costs time and money.

Our panel of experts will examine the latest cases concerning fraud and misconduct, how to prevent them, and how to deal with them when they do occur.

Learn about the current risks surrounding research and grants fraud, special considerations in investigating research misconduct, and challenges that arise in operating an effective, PHS-compliant program for managing conflicts of interest.

Kate Gallin Heffernan from Verrill Dana, LLP will serve as moderator of our three panels covering the following topics:

I. Developments and Trends in Government Enforcement of Research Fraud
II. Conflicts in Conflicts of Interest: Special Problems in Defining, Identifying, and Managing Conflicts of Interest
