The Use of Mediation to Provide Creative Solutions in Family Business Matters

This interactive program will bring experts in mediation to the BBA. The panel will demonstrate best practices and techniques through a series of mock mediations addressing issues related to closely held and family businesses.

Program Schedule: 
I. Welcome and Introductions – Richard H. Goldman
II. A comparison of Mediation and Arbitration – William I. Cowin;
III. Mock Mediation involving a family business dispute – the entire Panel
IV. Question and Answer period

  • Richard H. Goldman, Chairman -- Sullivan & Worcester LLP
  • Rudolph H. Kass, Retired Massachusetts Appeals Court Judge and Mediator for The Mediation Group
  • Joel M. Reck, Former President of the BBA, Retired Partner Brown Rudnick LLP and current Mediator for Mediation Works Inc. (MWI) and The Mediation Group

The Boston Bar Association's CLE Department will be offering certificates of attendance to those in attendance of this free program who require CLE Credit or proof of attendance.
