Special Immigrant Juvenile Status and Other Avenues of Immigration Relief for Immigrant Children
Tuesday, February 11, 2014
4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA
Since the Office of Refugee
Resettlement took over the placement of unaccompanied minor children entering
the U.S. in 2002, it has cared for more than 40,000 children. These
children travel to the U.S. alone or with a smuggler and are susceptible to
financial and violent crime and human trafficking. Often they cannot
return to their home countries because of abusive or neglectful family
situations or dangerous country conditions.
Under a grant from the
Vera Institute of Justice, Lutheran Social Services Immigration Legal Assistance
Program is proud to represent these children in their immigration cases before
the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Service (USCIS) and the Executive Office
for Immigration Review (EOIR). However, we cannot do it alone.
Please join us for a training on Special Immigrant Juvenile Status and other
forms of relief available to these children. Attendees are encouraged to
take a pro bono case.
*Please note that the course materials for this
program will be electronic only and sent via email to all registrants via email
prior to the session. Please ensure that your preferred email address is
provided with your registration.
