The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization
in New England and among the largest food banks in the country. Last year, GBFB
distributed almost 41 million pounds of food, enough to provide healthy meals to
as many as 545,000 people. GBFB is committed to increasing our food distribution
in 2013 to provide at least ONE MEAL A DAY to every person in need in eastern
Massachusetts. Volunteers play a critical role in ending hunger by giving their
time and talent to support The Greater Boston Food Bank. Most volunteers work in
the GBFB warehouse, inspecting, sorting, and packing food and grocery products.
Most tasks require the ability to stand and inspect products for 2 - 3 hours.
Volunteers are trained in food safety at the beginning of the shift. Come join
members of the New Lawyers Section as we partner with other volunteers to help
“End Hunger Here.” This event will be an excellent opportunity to enjoy the
company of fellow lawyers in a non-professional setting. Information for
volunteers:
1.) Closed-toe shoe policy.
2.) Please wear clothes that you don’t mind
getting dirty.
3.) No loose clothing or items that be caught in a conveyor
belt.
4.) Long hair must be tied back or contained in a hat.
5.) Parking
lot diagonally across the street from the GBFB building.
GBFB requires list of volunteers prior to event. Must register with BBA to
participate.
