POSTPONED: Public Interest Symposium: Addressing Climate Change through Public Service

Wednesday, May 21, 2014 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

By making choices that reduce greenhouse gas pollution, and preparing for the changes that are already underway, we can reduce risks from climate change. Lawyers have unique skills they can use to represent a neighborhood group in negotiating a community benefits agreement to reduce climate impacts of new or existing industrial facilities and can contribute to addressing climate change by spending a day volunteering to harvest local food. Lawyers and policy professionals will gather for a symposium to learn how the private sector, universities, government agencies, and public interest organizations are combatting climate change through public service.  Learn about opportunities for you and your clients to make a difference on this important issue at the firm, local, and national levels.

This program is designed to provide an introduction to the range of opportunities for attorneys to offer their legal talent to address climate change. The event will feature a keynote presentation by DOER Commissioner Mark Sylvia, an exciting panel of speakers from the public and private sectors, and a networking reception to connect lawyers with volunteer opportunities.
