after a claimant retains the services of a law firm. From the defense
perspective, information is gathered throughout the discovery process to obtain
information regarding claimants’ Medicare/Medicaid status, the potential
existence of lien holders related to health care payments, amounts paid by
Medicare/Medicaid and/or owed to health care lien holders, to allow clients to
verify claimants’ Medicare status and to assess potential lien recovery risks.
As the law and procedures in this area continue to evolve, attorneys
