United States v. Mathew Martoma: Lessons Learned from One of the Country’s Largest and Most Significant Insider-Trading Trials

Friday, March 28, 2014 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

Description:

In February 2014, a federal jury sitting in the Southern District of New York convicted Mathew Martoma, a former SAC Capital Advisors LP portfolio manager, of insider-trading for conducting trades resulting in profits and avoiding losses of approximately $275 million as a result of allegedly obtaining confidential information in connection with a clinical trial for an experimental Alzheimer’s drug.

Please join one of Mr. Martoma’s defense attorneys, Roberto Braceras of Goodwin Procter LLP, for a fascinating look inside this landmark insider-trading trial.  Mr. Braceras will discuss how the defense attempted to attack the prosecution’s case during this month-long trial and the obstacles it faced along the way.
