Divorce Law Fundamentals Training Series: Motion Practice

The Divorce Law Fundamentals Brown Bag Training Series is a new program established by the Family Law section.  This twelve part training series is designed to provide a new lawyer or a lawyer who is new to domestic relations practice with an overview of the "life of a divorce case."  The training series will cover topics such as the divorce client interview; child support and alimony; custody and parenting plans; motion practice; pretrial practice; separation agreements; and post-judgment issues.  

The following topics will be covered:

  • First, we will provide background, research, and client interviews to prepare to draft Motions;
  • Part Two will discuss the mechanics of drafting Motions, proposed orders and affidavits;
  • Part Three will discuss scheduling, filing and procedural issues; and
  • Part Four will be presenting Motions to court, mediators, and probation officers
