Explore Boston's role in the "Second American Revolution" -- the one intended to force the nation to live up to the promises of liberty and equality contained in the Declaration of Independence.  This program will discuss how the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 led to the growth of the abolitionist movement, and consider the moral dilemma faced by those charged with enforcing this law.

Barbara F. Berenson is the author of Boston and the Civil War: Hub of the Second Revolution and Walking Tours of Civil War Boston: Hub of Abolitionism.
