Volunteer with The Greater Boston Food Bank - Reached capacity

Saturday, October 3, 2015 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM
Greater Boston Food Bank - 70 South Bay Ave., Boston, MA

Description:

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Greater Boston Food Bank.

Unfortunately we have reached capacity for this session.  Please email Katie D'Angelo kdangelo@bostonbar.org if you would like to be informed about future volunteer opportunities.

Come join members of the Public Interest Leadership Program as we partner with other volunteers to help 'End Hunger Here.' This event will be an excellent opportunity to enjoy the company of fellow lawyers in a non-professional setting.

The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England, and among the largest food banks in the country. Last year, GBFB distributed almost 48 million pounds of food, enough to provide healthy meals to as many as 545,000 people. GBFB is committed to increasing our food distribution in 2014 to provide at least ONE MEAL A DAY to every person in need in eastern Massachusetts.

Volunteers play a critical role in ending hunger by giving their time and talent to support to GBFB. Most volunteers work in the GBFB warehouse, inspecting, sorting, and packing food and grocery products. Most tasks require the ability to stand and inspect products for 2 - 3 hours. Volunteers are trained in food safety at the beginning of the shift.

Pre-registration is required.
