CLE - The Nuts and Bolts of Complying with the New Pay Equity law: Pay Equity Audits, Salary History & Pay Transparency

Monday, June 19, 2017 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

The new Massachusetts Pay Equity Law contains provisions not seen in any other state’s equal pay law, including a prohibition on requests for salary history in hiring and an affirmative defense to liability if the employer has conducted a self-evaluation of its pay practices and can show reasonable progress toward eliminating any gender-based wage differentials.  This program will provide an in-depth focus on how to conduct a pay equity audit – when and how to do it, who should do it, and what to do with the results. We will also address the role of the attorney-client privilege throughout the process.  The panelists will also discuss the provision barring salary history inquiries in the hiring process (including a legal challenge in another jurisdiction), as well as how to comply with the pay transparency provisions of the new law.
