Volunteer with the Bankruptcy Section and IWIRC New England at the Greater Boston Food Bank

Wednesday, June 28, 2017 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM
Greate Boston Food Bank - 70 S Bay Ave, Boston, MA

Please join your colleagues from the BBA and the International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation's New England Network for a fun community service event at the Greater Boston Food Bank on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, from 5:30 - 8:00 PM.

PROJECT DETAILS: All volunteers are trained in food safety at the beginning of the shift. Volunteers will inspect, sort and pack donated grocery products that are later distributed to hunger relief agencies. Volunteers work together as a team on an assembly line, and may be working alongside other groups. You might load boxes onto conveyor belts, inspect and sort products, and some may check and label boxes. A few of these tasks require the ability to lift 30+ pound boxes, but the majority of positions simply require that a volunteer can stand and inspect products for a few hours.

CANCELLATIONS: Please let us know as soon as possible if there are changes in your attendance projects are planned carefully and the GBFB relies heavily on volunteers for their help.

REQUIREMENTS: The AGE REQUIREMENT for all volunteers is 16 and older. Any volunteer under 18 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone. There is a CLOSED-TOE SHOE POLICY (no sandals or flip flops) as we will be working warehouse. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing you do not mind getting dirty. All volunteers will need to sign a waiver upon arrival.

TRANSPORTATION: The Greater Boston Food Bank is located approximately 1 mile from Andrew Station on the red line. Parking is located diagonally across the street from our building with GBFB signage at the entrance. The gate will lift automatically when you approach the lot entrance. Please remember to take a token from the reception desk in our front lobby when exiting.

DONATIONS: IWIRC New England will be making a monetary donation to the Greater Boston Food Bank to support its Public Health Initiative, which is aimed at using their food distribution to positively affect the overall health of the communities that they serve by distributing the right kind of foods to keep the people of Eastern Massachusetts healthy and active. This means taking more control over the food that they bring into the building by ramping up their purchasing department and relying less on donated items from local grocery stores.

The sponsors of this event invite individual volunteers to make a monetary donation in the amount of $20 if they wish to do so. Donations can be made day of service.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact Keri Wintle at or (857) 488-4226.

This event is free for both members and non-members of the BBA and IWIRC.
