Wednesday, January 10, 2018 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

This session will discuss current national state tax trends and hot topics with an emphasis on the state tax impact of federal tax reform.  The session will explore the implications of state conformity and non-conformity with key provisions in federal tax reform including full expensing, limits on interest deductions, changes in the taxation of foreign source income,  the near-elimination of state and local tax deductions, and the changes in the treatment of flow through entity income.    The session will also address national legislative developments, as well as noteworthy litigation and case law decisions that impact state taxes.  Some of the additional issues that will be discussed include potential state tax cases at the U.S. Supreme Court, state sales and corporate income tax “nexus,” corporate apportionment issues such as market based sourcing and alternative apportionment, and “transfer pricing” in the corporate income tax area.
