MCP Basics for Lawyers

Friday, March 9, 2018 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

Description:

The Massachusetts Contingency Plan (310 CMR 40.0000 et seq.) or “MCP” is the “cookbook” environmental engineers use to address releases of oil and hazardous materials.  While it is primarily a technical document, lawyers are frequently called on to interpret MCP provisions in the context of real estate and corporate transactions, and when working with environmental consultants to ensure compliance with the regulatory obligations.  This program will introduce new lawyers to the MCP, review the fundamentals of remediating hazardous waste sites, and provide an overview of the legal issues they may face in their practice.

"Friday Fundamentals” is the BBA’s weekly educational series designed to offer an introduction to the basic legal skills and fundamental knowledge lawyers need to get a foothold and grow in their understanding of a given area of practice.
