Meet MCAD's New Chair and Hear Her Plans for the Future

Tuesday, January 23, 2018 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

Description:

We’re pleased to announce that the newly appointed chair of the MCAD will share her views on various topics and plans for the future of the MCAD with BBA members.  Commissioner Sunila Thomas-George has been a MCAD Commissioner since 2007 and was appointed Chair by Governor Baker in September 2017.  As Sheila Hubbard and Monserrate Quiñones also were appointed MCAD Commissioners in 2017, attendees will have a glimpse into the future of the MCAD under a new Chair and two new Commissioners.

Attorney Sunila Thomas-George, as the first person of Asian descent to be appointed by the Governor as a Commissioner for the MCAD, has broken barriers and broadened public understanding of what constitutes discrimination.  She has served in various capacities at the Commission since 1997 becoming a leading expert in the Commonwealth's anti-discrimination laws and is a respected authority on the MCAD’s enforcement statutes, procedural regulations, federal work-share agreements, and internal policies and procedures.

This presentation will be followed by an informal reception.
