Strategies for Strengthening Law Department-Law Firm Relationships in a Changing Legal Marketplace

Wednesday, February 28, 2018 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

The next installment of the BBA Law Firm Leadership Series will focus on the impact of the ongoing changes in the traditional workforce and technology on law department’s expectations of, and relationships with, their law firms.

Traditionally, increases in work demands resulted in law departments sending more matters to their outside counsel and, when budgets permitted, making permanent additions to staff. As the profession evolves, law departments are looking for ways to be nimbler, and instead are using temporary staff, consisting of contract attorneys and law firm secondees, to deal with workload spikes. Law departments also are looking for more efficient delivery models, both internally and at their law firms, which models must utilize technology and data. These changes are affecting the relationships between law departments and their law firms.

Join our panelists for a discussion about the evolving workforce dynamics, its impact on the needs and expectations of law departments and what law firms are doing in response to strengthen client relationships in a changing legal marketplace.

The program will conclude with a networking reception. Beer, wine, and hors d'oeuvres will be served.

Attendance by invitation only. For more information or to RSVP please contact Maggie DeMoura at
