Leading with Intent – Strategies for Improving Nonprofit Board Performance and Impact

Friday, March 16, 2018 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

As the leading organization focused on strengthening and supporting nonprofit board leadership, BoardSource has been tracking and analyzing trends in nonprofit board leadership since its first national study in 1994. Leading with Intent: 2017 National Index of Nonprofit Board Practices is the most recent report in this series. A key finding from the 2017 report is that boards are no more diverse than they were two decades ago; current recruitment priorities indicate this is unlikely to change, despite boards reporting high levels of dissatisfaction with current board demographics.

Join us for a conversation with Vernetta Walker, JD, Chief Governance Officer at BoardSource, who will share insights on what Leading with Intent 2017 tells us about current trends and dynamics in nonprofit board leadership, how boards can leverage the report’s findings to improve their performance and organizational impact, and why it is critical for nonprofit organizations and their boards to fully embrace diversity and inclusion.
