Pro Bono Training: Representing Immigrant Youth - Tackling Allegations of Gang Involvement

Wednesday, June 27, 2018 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

Description:

Increased immigration enforcement has included a larger focus on immigrant youths, particularly from the "northern triangle" of Central America - Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala.  Recently, the administration has dramatically increased the detention and deportation of young immigrants based on alleged gang involvement -- even when there is little to no evidence to support these allegations. The manner and method in which these allegations arise bring up due process concerns as many youth do not even know such allegations have been lodged against them until they are already in the middle of an immigration adjudication or have been detained by immigration authorities.

Learn how to proactively protect your immigrant clients as well as defend them from gang allegations (should they arise) from our panel of experienced practitioners.

After the program, you will learn about the volunteer opportunities available to you through the organizations represented on the panel.
